Apple’s iPhone 14 Series Launch Date, Specifications, and Prices
We are almost halfway down in August 2022 and nearing the last quarter of the year, but wait why are we talking about it? because it’s the time of the year when we all tech enthusiasts get to see the best of tech product launches of the year. Talking about the best tech products, iPhones are one of them.
Apple The tech giant of America, typically hosts its big launch events mostly in September. And according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who has the best track record when it comes to Apple reports. Gurman claims that Apple will hold its iPhone 14 series Apple Event on 7th September, Wednesday. with new devices going on sale from 16th September.
Apple will begin its fall product launch season with iPhone, and then we will get to see Macs, iPad series, and Apple Watch later this year.
About Apple Event - September 2022
For the last couple of years especially after the pandemic, Apple is holding its Launch events virtually. Just like last year, we expect this year’s iPhone 14 launch event is going to be virtual. There is one sad news for compact phone lovers Apple is discontinuing the iPhone mini-series this year but there is a good part too Apple is planning to add a large device without cost like the Pro’s. At this event, we can expect four new iPhone 14 series devices – iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
What to Expect from iPhone 14 Series
iPhone 14 Lineup:
- iPhone 14 : 6.1-inch Display base model iPhone successor to iPhone 13.
- iPhone 14 (Max or Plus) : 6.7-inch Display iPhone offers a large Display and Battery over the base model, all other specs will remain the same as iPhone 14.
- iPhone 14 Pro : 6.1-inch Display, Triple Rear Cameras with all the latest and greatest features in a handy form factor.
- iPhone 14 Pro Max : 6.7-inch Display, The top-end variant of the iPhone lineup with all premium features, a large Display, and a longer Battery.
iPhone 14 Series Design
So what do think iPhone 14 series design will look like? We don’t expect any major changes to the iPhone 14 series in terms of design. It will almost look similar to iPhone 13 Series. The camera cutout will get slightly larger as we expect Apple is putting a High-resolution camera sensor in iPhone 14 Series apart from that the back will look the same. However,
the front will be getting one big change for Pro models, Apple is planning to remove the notch and replace it with the i-shaped horizontal punch hole cutout. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will not be getting any changes, it will use the same notch that was introduced with iPhone 13.
iPhone 14 Series Cameras
According to the latest reports Apple is planning for huge camera upgrades for the iPhone 14 series. Apple is planning a large sensor this time for the primary camera of the iPhone. The latest leaks suggest a Bigger 1/1.3-inch 48MP Sony sensor is in the work. Pro models are coming with this sensor, not sure about the base models. Ultra-wide and Telephoto sensors are also expected to get some updates this time.
This new larger primary sensor with its quad pixel binning will improve the low light capabilities of iPhones. We are looking forward to seeing how the night mode will work on iPhone with this new sensor.
This new large sensor will theoretically allow the 8K video recording from the primary sensor of the iPhone. The current generation of iPhone is capable of doing 4K at 60 fps max. We are not sure about the 8K video recording will arrive this year or not.
iPhone 14 Series Performance
Every year when a new iPhone arrives, we get to see a new Custom made Apple Bionic chipset along with it, and this won’t change this year too.
We all know that the Apple A16 Bionic chipset will come with new iPhones. Talking about A16 Bionic we are not sure about the chipset architecture yet. Some rumors suggest they will move to 4nm or 3nm architecture from the existing 5nm architecture. If this happens the new architecture will bring better performance and efficiency improvements. But this new architecture is not confirmed yet. Maybe Apple can still stay with 5nm architecture that will put them slightly behind Android competitors. With TCMC’s production, Apple will make sure they achieve performance gain with better efficiency even with 5nm Architecture.
According to the rumors Apple will be using A16 Bionic for iPhone 14 Pro models only. For non-Pro, they will stick with last year’s A15 Bionic, but other hardware improvements will make sure non-Pro iPhone 14 will give better performance than iPhone 13.
Last year’s Pro models of iPhones shipped with 6GB of RAM, and the non-Pro shipped with 4GB RAM, This time iPhone Pro models are expected to ship with faster LPDDR5 8GB RAM, and non-Pro will come with LPDDR4X 6GB RAM. For storage, we can expect the base model iPhone 14 to start with 128GB storage.
iPhone 14 Series Pricing
According to rumors, this year’s iPhone 14 series will come with a higher price tag than the last year’s iPhone 13 series. This is due to the variety of factors, expensive components, global chip issues, and inflation across the market. With this in mind, we expect the iPhone 14 base model will start at $799 and iPhone 14 Pro to start at $1099.
